Fruit of the Vine

Ezekiel 19:10
Your mother was like a vine in your vineyard, Planted by the waters; It was fruitful and full of branches Because of abundant waters

Being Lost

Early in my career, I spent a lot of time traveling up and down the east coast visiting different locations. On one occasion, I flew to my destination after working 8 hours at my local office. When I arrived it was late and already dark. This trip was during a time when cell phones were fairly new and not hi-tech. The phone I had was not like what we have today but, I could call for help if necessary so I felt kind of safe; I had a life line. I rented my car and headed to the hotel with my trusty map (this was a time before GPS also) and a full tank of gas.

As I made my way to the hotel, I realized, I could not see the map, it was too dark outside. Each turn that I made took me in the wrong direction. An hour and a half and several circles later, I was so lost, confused, scared and tired that all I could do was drive, cry and pray. I was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted. It was so late at night that in this city every road seemed to have a very large, very scary bridge to cross, one way roads that appeared out of nowhere, and major highways that narrowed into seemingly side streets. Driving around this city took me far beyond my comfort zone. I was afraid to keep going and I was afraid to stop. I found myself in an area that at 2:00 pm was probably a very lovely place but at 2:00 am, every seedy, scary and sketchy thing seemed to be out and about. I was lost!

I had to make a choice. I could keep going and end up who knows where or I could just stop and call for help. At the next, well light place, I decided to pull over. I took out my new phone and called someone I knew would be there; I called home. My husband answered the phone; he had been worried but knows how stubborn I am. I gave him my location, information from some area landmarks and he said the most comforting thing, He said, “I got you, just follow my directions and you will be alright”. Ten miles later, I was pulling into my hotel safe and sound. How sweet to hear from and be guided by someone that loves you and cares for you.

A series of bad choice landed me in a place that had me scared, confused and lost. Just as we sometimes get lost in our Natural Life, we can also become lost Spiritually. We find ourselves lost and not knowing which direction to take in that moment, we have a choice.  We have a choice to continue to go down a potentially destructive path or we can stop and call on someone we can trust who can and will give us clear and concise directions.

The Lord our God is that someone. All we have to do is call on Him, listen for His reply and follow His directions.

Luke 19:10
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

The Lord will deploy angels to protect and guard you. You will never be alone.

Psalm 91:11
For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

No matter where you are in your struggles, your fight, your condition, your loneliness, your sadness, your lost-ness…God will meet you right where you are. All you have to do is call on him. He will take you to the safest place there is, in His arms.

Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

How sweet it is to hear God say, “I got you, just follow my directions and you will be alright”.
